Tough Road Trip for the Saints in Week 3 Action

June 1, 2025 - It was a challenging Week 3 for your Port Coquitlam Saints as they hit the road for a tough back-to-back slate, coming up short in both contests.

The road trip kicked off Friday night with a high-stakes matchup against the defending Minto Cup champions, the Coquitlam Adanacs. The Saints found themselves in an early hole, trailing 6–2 after the opening period. They came out flying to start the second, dominating the first ten minutes and narrowing the gap to just one goal. However, the Adanacs responded with a five-goal surge to close out the frame, putting the game out of reach. The Saints battled to the final whistle, but the scoreboard told the story, with a final score of 15–6 in favor of the Adanacs.

Undeterred, the Saints suited up the very next night in Delta to face the Islanders. The visitors came out strong, carrying a lead into the first intermission. A tight and physical second period saw the game deadlocked heading into the final frame. Both teams pushed the pace, trading goals in an exciting run-and-gun style. Saints defender Levi Thouey continued to shine in transition, netting his third goal of the season on a breakaway. Forward Josh Mills recorded a hat trick, bringing the Saints within one goal with just under two minutes remaining. With the goalie pulled and the extra attacker on, the Saints pressed hard, but the equalizer proved elusive as time expired, sealing a narrow loss.

The Saints now look to bounce back at home with a pair of critical matchups. They’ll host the Coquitlam Adanacs on Friday night, followed by an afternoon thriller on Sunday against the Nanaimo Timbermen. Both games promise high-energy lacrosse as the Saints aim to get back in the win column in front of their home fans.

Let’s pack the PoCo Rec Centre and show our Saints some love!
